The Brunch Story

“Watch us walk, watch us move, watch us overcome, listen to our voices, the sway. The resilience. The innovation. The raw, unfiltered and untouched soul we have cannot be touched.” – Solange Knowles

Founded in 2016 by Brandee Sanders, Brunch with Brandee aims to cultivate a community of like-minded, ambitious Black millennial women and serve as an affordable safe space for them to connect and engage in meaningful conversations about their career experiences—all over mimosas.

Each brunch features a guest speaker—a woman of color who is well-respected in her field—who candidly and authentically shares her story, delves into how she charted her career path and offers advice on how others can navigate the corporate world and get ahead in their careers. No topic is off limits at the brunches. Conversations cover everything from dealing with issues related to race at work to bouncing back after a layoff. Brunches are concluded with a networking hour where all attendees have the opportunity to foster connections.

The date, there have been six NYC-based installations of Brunch with Brandee. Past speakers have included Genese Jamilah, Founder of I Don’t Do Clubs, Christina Coleman, Former Managing Editor of NewsOne and now Senior Editor at ESSENCE, Rhonesha Byng, Founder of Her Agenda, Zoé Zeigler, who served as the Senior Marketing Manager for Integrated Marketing and Brand Partnerships at Teen Vogue, and Channing Hargrove, Fashion News Writer, Refinery29.

We encourage the women who attend to bring their whole selves to the brunch to get the most out of the experience. Have a seat at the table and build your tribe!
